Water glycol pumps operate to 15 000 psi (1040 bar). A single-fluid design avoids the need for a separate lubrication circuit and the cost of ongoing maintenance.

These pumps use the water glycol to lubricate their internal bearings. This design eliminates the potential for cross-fluid contamination, which can occur in other designs requiring a secondary oil for lubrication.

Low input-power mineral oil pumps, requiring only 1 HP at 10 000 psi (0,7 kW at 700 bar), are used for land-based panel systems. Their compact size also makes them ideal for portable torque-tool power units.
