Tool Room/Model Shop Machinist
Location: Pewaukee
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Works from digital drawings and sketches.
- Regularly applies shop mathematics and interprets complicated drawings to meet specifications.
- Sets up and operates all model shop/tool room machines, including but not limited to grinders, engine lathes, and manual mills to manufacture components to close tolerances and finish specifications.
- Performs all assigned machine and bench operations to alter and/or repair components or products of fairly complex design.
- Creates or improvises tooling, special holding jigs, and fixtures needed to aid in the manufacture or modification of products.
- Must be familiar with the heat treatment process of steel.
- Reports labor, parts completed, tooling requirements, and machine downtime using ERP software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience and/or Training
3+ years of experience
Hurco Vertical Mill experience is a plus, but will train
Technology/Equipment
Engine lathes, cylindrical and I.D. grinders, drill presses, milling machines, spring winder, attachments and tools; all gauging and measuring equipment normally used in a machine shop; and heat-treating equipment.
