ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. 

  • Evaluate requests for purchase of supplies, equipment, and services.  Process requisitions into purchase orders for inventory, subcontract, Maintenance Repair Operation (MRO) and services.
  • Prepare, obtain, and review competitive price quotes.  
  • Research new products and services and investigate and interview potential new suppliers.  
  • Tracking open purchase orders.
  • Run reports, analyze, and react to ERP purchase suggestions.  Review ERP planning parameters, usage, and sales requirements to align purchase orders with production demands.  Review part costs for accounting and “standard cost” updates. 
  • Review and discuss defective goods and/or services with inspection, quality control, users, and suppliers.
  • Review, monitor and update annual contracts and conduct vendor audits.
  • Analyze costs and make recommendations for make/buy decisions.  Monitor commodity pricing trends and business environment and provide input to the President or others within the organization that may be affected or need to act on this information.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Equivalent of a bachelor’s degree in business management and/or 4+ years of progressively responsible purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.     
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings and all other related information pertaining to materials, treatments, processing, and manufacturing.  Have ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers and/or vendors and other internal departments.  Have ability to write reports and business correspondence.  Have ability to effectively present information to management and customers.
  • Have ability to define problems, collect and research data, establish facts, use intuition and experience to complement data, and draw valid conclusions.  Have ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical, complex, and/or diverse information in mathematical form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient computer skills.
