Dynex News
Did you know that Dynex manufactures components, power units, and even complete turn-key test stands used for testing aerospace components?
We created a new brochure to explain why Dynex hydraulic components are regularly used with aerospace fluids like: Skydrol, HYJET, MIL-SPEC, and more.
Find out why our products have been successfully applied in all of these applications:
• Pressure Testing
• Impulse Testing
• Performance Testing
You might also be surprised to learn that our power unit division can incorporate our high-pressure pumps and valves into custom designed motor/pump assemblies, HPU’s or even fully integrated and automated test stands.
Download our new brochure to find out why you should use Dynex products for your next test circuit or as part of your new test stand design today.
Dynex will be closed on Friday, April 10th and will reopen on Monday, April 13th at 8 AM.
Stay safe and enjoy your Easter weekend!
To keep our customers connected, Dynex has updated our Contact Us Page with additional information. Included on this page is a map of the USA and Canada. The map is color coded with the respective Sales Territory Manager and their direct office number.
Dynex is doing this in response to the latest requirements that our office staff work remote. We hope that this will allow our customers to efficiently reach out to our Sales teams and get the information they need to maintain their own business operations.
Thank you for your understanding and support. Stay safe!

Like many other companies, Dynex is taking steps to minimize potential exposure to COVID-19 (Coronavirus). As of this moment, we continue to operate our facilities and have staff to take orders and handle customer support. We ARE accepting deliveries at this time.
Effective immediately, we will be implementing the following policies:
- Dynex will no longer be accepting incoming visitors at our facilities. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but believe that caution is in order.
- No face-to-face meetings or interviews. We have phone/video conference services available. We’d be happy to arrange a virtual meeting.
We continue to monitor this rapidly changing situation and any new developments will be posted here on the Dynex website.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know what we can do to help.
Dynex, like many other companies, is aware of the outbreak in China of the Covid-19 (Coronavirus). As a company with customers in China and other parts of the world, this issue is one that can impact our business.
Dynex does not directly source any material for the manufacture of our products from China.
While we continue to monitor the situation, Dynex is taking all precautionary measures at our facilities related to incoming visitors, evaluation of any customers and/or suppliers, and any new developments that would impact our business. As of this moment, we continue to operate as normal.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us.
You never know what you’ll find when you dig through an old box in the closet!
Lately, we’ve been talking a lot about our 136-year history at Dynex, and we were surprised to learn that old film footage was found in our storage area for archived promotional materials.
We thought our customers and friends would enjoy seeing what life was like at Dynex about 60 years ago, shortly after construction was completed in 1957 of its present-day, Pewaukee, Wisconsin company headquarters.
We assembled together clips taken from the 8mm and 16mm films and created the following brief video for your viewing pleasure, and a unique peek into Dynex history!
Dynex hydraulic pumps and valves have some of the highest pressure ratings in the industry. When operating at pressures above 8000 psi (550 bar) it’s important to select the appropriate outlet port configuration and use a fitting that’s suitable for your high pressure requirements. We created this overview to help answer some of our most frequently asked questions.
Before we cover the distinctive features of coned & threaded connections, here’s a quick overview of the most commonly used connections.
- SAE Straight Thread Connection — The port consists of a machined spotface surface, a tapered seal cavity, and a straight thread port. The fitting forms a seal by compressing the o-ring into the seal cavity.
— Dynex does not recommend S.A.E. straight thread ports for operation above 8000 psi (550 bar).
- British Standard Pipe Parallel (BSPP) Connection — The fitting forms a seal by compressing a flat elastomer o-ring onto a machined surface. There are several sealing methods for these ports.
— Dynex does not recommend B.S.P.P. ports for operation above 10000 psi (700 bar).
- SAE 4-Bolt Flange Connection — Flange connections are often used for higher flows requiring larger diameter tubing. It consists of an unthreaded port with four bolt holes on a machined face. A flanged head is bolted to this surface. A seal is formed by an o-ring in a groove on the underside of the flange head.
— Pressure capability is determined by the fitting used in the flange.
THE ADVANTAGES OF CONED AND THREADED PORTS
Commonly found under brand names such as Autoclave Medium Pressure, Butech M/P, or HIP-High Pressure Equipment Co., this type of fitting is capable of withstanding extremely high pressures, and is an excellent choice for components with pressure requirements above 8000 psi (550 bar).
These fittings use a metal-to-metal seal with an interference fit. They do not not require an o-ring. In this design, a tube is forced into a coned surface. A collar is threaded onto the tube and a gland nut holds the sleeve and tubing against the coned surface.
WHAT’S UP WITH THAT TINY HOLE?

A unique feature of this fitting is its use of a weep hole.
Visible on the outside of the pump cover (or fitting), this small hole acts as an indicator of any abnormal leakage caused by system conditions (i.e., excessive pressure) or improper installation.
Users of these fittings who observe leakage coming from the weep hole should repair the connection or replace the fitting immediately.
A VERY IMPORTANT NOTE
Although Dynex components can be specified with a wide variety of ports, we do not supply the fittings, so it’s important that you consult the fitting manufacturer to ensure your selected fittings are rated for use with the anticipated maximum system operating pressure.
By having a full understanding of the possible port choices and selecting appropriate fittings, you can avoid potential pitfalls and design a robust system that will perform for years.
