Impulse Test Stand

Dynex designed and fabricated this high cycle impulse test stand for pressure testing filters.

Dynex products for use in this industry:

PF6000 Series Fixed Displacement Checkball Pumps

  • Pressures to 15 000 psi (1040 bar). 6,000 psi (420 bar) when isolating pistons.
  • Output flow to 54 gpm (204,4 L/min) @ 1800 rpm.
  • Bi-directional rotation providing constant flow direction regardless of drive shaft rotation.
  • A wide range of fluid compatibility, for reliable operation with low lubricity, low viscosity fluids.
  • Split-Flow® models can supply independent flows from up to ten separate outlets.

PF4000 Series Fixed Displacement Checkball Pumps

  • Pressures to 10 000 psi (700 bar).
  • Output flow to 14 gpm (53,0 L/min) @ 1800 rpm.
  • Bi-directional rotation providing constant flow direction regardless of drive shaft rotation.
  • A wide range of fluid compatibility, for reliable operation with low lubricity, low viscosity fluids.
  • Split-Flow® models can supply independent flows from up to ten separate outlets.

Impulse pressure testing used to reduce component fatigue testing time

Until the introduction of rapid impulse pressure testing, conventional hydraulic fatigue tests typically used directional control valves in conjunction with electronic cycling controls. The time to complete a test was determined by how quickly the valves can cycle. A typical one million-cycle endurance test could take days to accomplish.

In contrast, impulse testing with Dynex Split-Flow checkball pumps take advantage of the normal pressure pulses from each of the pumps pistons. Pulse rates can be varied simply by changing the pump input speed. Based on a input speed of 1800 RPM, a one million-cycle endurance test would be accomplished in less than ten hours.

Additionally, the only flow of oil with this type of cycle testing is the small amount discharged over a relief valve. This low flow results in significantly reduced horsepower requirements.

This is another example of the unique uses of a Dynex checkball pumps.
